In the past year both rustic and vintage were common themes among weddings. Recently we’ve been seeing a bohemian, or boho, twist added into these themes and we predict it’s going to be trending in the coming season. Bohemian is another term for gypsy, known for living vibrant, colorful, and free-spirited lives. Bohemians are individualistic and reflect their personality through art, fashion and music.
This style translates into weddings as a further take on the rustic theme, adding natural and earthy elements. The boho bride often wears a very simple and flowy white dress that incorporates lace and an open back. Too much detail or exaggerated beading are out for this look. Off white and ivory are more subtle and earthy tones of white that the boho bride may also choose. The boho look often includes a headpiece , head band, or crown of flowers. Since the dress is on the simple side, brides might wear a fun yet delicate headpiece to bring in color, sparkle, or interest. Most often the bride will wear her hair down with loose curls or a relaxed braid as opposed to a tight updo.
Decor includes an earthy look, bringing in elements of nature like wood (for example a chuppah might be made with thick fallen sticks), wildflowers in loose arrangements, strung lights, vintage props like books or a typewriter, mason jars, etc. A boho wedding might take place in a field, forest, or nearby a lake; somewhere in which the beauty of nature can shine through and be a part of the day. We love this free spirited trend and are looking forward to creating the perfect boho wedding in the coming season.
