The first day I was able to spend with Jason and Jennifer was fabulous – I had never laughed so much with clients before! Jennifer and Jason found At Your Side Planning online and after a fantastic chat, secured our services. The couple lived in San Francisco and flew in shortly after to get started on the thrilling planning process. Jennifer and Jason already had the perfect venue selected – The San Diego Safari Wild Animal Park in Escondido, California. They were ready to create their dream wedding – a fun, down to earth, vintage circus themed celebration!
The fun began with the invitations, a retro styled print with fall elements that resembled a circus ticket. It’s a Piece of Cake made a lively, mad hatter style cake to compliment this fun couple’s quirky personality.
As for their musical selections for the day, Jennifer and Jason instantly connected with the very talented Steve Eicher of Unique Mobile Sounds. They spent hours with Steve making sure the music reflected them as a couple – this was one wedding without the typical soundtrack. The scores to sci fi and classic horror movies played along with oldies and some upbeat dance tracks.
Fun, interesting, and colorful floral by Flowers By Hilary was creatively styled and added so much pizzazz on the wedding day. Some of the bold choices were orange and black tiger orchids, in keeping with the circus theme and the fall colors.
At the ceremony site, the bride and groom were flanked with arches made of curly willow that fit right in with the natural surroundings. This bridal party was as unique as the couple – the bride had “brosmaids” instead of bridesmaids and her best friend Dennis was the man of honor!
Jennifer looked beautiful with her hair and makeup styled by Laura of The Parlour Skin and Hair Salon. She wore a vintage veiled headpiece over her sleek updo and had a very stylish pin up look.
The guys wore bow ties, hats and suspenders in fall colors, looking vintage chic.
The reception was full of bright floral in popcorn containers, lanterns and mason jars. Popcorn containers were filled with hydrangeas to resemble…yes..popcorn! Props on the tables like mustaches, clown noses, and other fun items ordered by the bride herself encouraged guests to play during the reception! Also on the tables were popcorn boxes full of vintage-looking candy like big swirly lollipops in bright colors.
Rentals by Petals and Lace brought everything together. Vintage luggage pieces with a small ladder held the escort cards and guests found parasols in a pretty basket to shade them from the afternoon sun at the ceremony. Every item lended to the feeling that this magical circus was just in town for one amazing night and would be gone by the time the sun came up.
The couple snuck out for sunset photos with the terrific team from Shadowcatcher Imagery and had a blast on the carousel! The event was full of fun, laughs and a good time….just like the couple ordered. We wish Jason and Jennifer the very best and thank them for allowing At Your Side to plan such a unique wedding!
