On September 21, 2013, At Your Side Planning was just as excited as our wonderful and energetic couple Cece Kovalcheck and Frankie Clark to celebrated their wedding day. We were so thrilled to bring to life the many unique and memorable elements that Cece weaved into their day. This lovely bride filled the day with personalized touches that spanned generations at her beautiful San Diego wedding.
Pre ceremony, the bride and groom wrote and exchanged secret notes to one another expressing their excitement and joy for the long awaited day.
Finally, the moment was here. The ceremony was at the gorgeous Founder’s Chapel at the University of San Diego campus. The bride’s father escorted her down the aisle to meet her awaiting groom. The ceremony was filled with intimate moments, perhaps the most touching was when, during the Virgin Mary flower presentation, the couple also prayed together.
The reception was held at the Spanish Village in Balboa Park, where the courtyard was transformed into a Great Gatsby dinner party with help from Raphaels Party Rentals and Pacific Event Productions. On the north end of the gazebo the cocktail hour came to life while guests enjoyed the music of Mariachi La Barca and sipped cocktails courtesy of The Pennant, a Mission Beach bar owned by the father of the bride.
As cocktail hour came to an end guests were escorted to the reception area. Before passing the gazebo they found their assigned table displayed in a large beautiful vintage frame. On display Cece had the wedding dresses of her mother, grandmother, and new mother in law, as well as the wedding photos of each. She also had pieces of each dress integrated into her very own.
The open patio of the park was completely revamped into a gorgeous wedding reception. Each table was placed carefully to face the long head table, a high top table that extended in front of the dance floor, borrowed from The Pennant.
Each table was dressed in a white linen and a burlap runner. Table numbers were displayed on wine bottles and the centerpieces, glass jars filled with limes and assorted white flowers, were placed on the burlap flanked by two candle lit glass lanterns on each side.
The whole area was lit with market lighting creating a brilliantly ambient scene. Beautiful cupcakes from The Grove Bakery were displayed on a large burlap-wrapped tiered stand looking good enough to eat. Cece and Frankie added a fun surprise to their dinner by having a food truck from Curiocity Catering parked on the south end of the village. Guests were able to order and enjoy what they wanted while Republic of Music rocked the Spanish Village and had everyone up dancing through the night.
Alongside the food truck a classic vehicle was parked and used as a background for photos. The couple included an area for guests to take photos with a polaroid camera and decorate a page in their guest book. 8Twenty8 Studios and Jason Wilbur Weddings captured every moment of this special day and were wonderful to work with.
With a live band and lively guests, this loving couple and their fun guests brought the Spanish Village to life, transforming it into a breathtaking site for a truly wonderful wedding celebration.
