Literary Love

Unique. Fun. Authentic. These words describe Jeff and Casey, one of my favorite couples of 2013. The first time I met with the couple we laughed so much. Casey, a writer, was so easy to talk to and I simply loved hearing about how much she adored her fiance, Jeff. Jeff, a teacher, had Casey smiling anytime the two were in the same room. Casey had a sparkle in her eye each time her eyes met his. After our meeting, we immediately started planning what would be the biggest celebration of their lives.

Before celebrating with their family and friends, Casey and Jeff shared an intimate moment alone during their first look at the Junipero Serra Museum. Jeff melted when he laid eyes on her! Casey was styled at Hyde Edwards Salon by Carmen Tafoya and Sarah Davies. She looked gorgeous in a lace gown by Davids Bridal. This moment and the entire day was captured by Aaron and Samantha of A + S Photography, who were fantastic to work with.

Guests were driven from The Doubletree in Mission Valley in school buses! As a teacher, Jeff loved this touch. When guests arrived at the Junipero Serra Museum they found it decorated with handcrafted items created by the bride. We incorporated literature into the wedding day which was perfect for these two love birds. The decor included a ceremony backdrop of faux floral crafted from book pages. The bride’s very own bouquet was also designed by her out of pages. Humor was incorporated throughout the day too with the “usherettes” sporting badges showing the musical artist, Usher!

Casey’s father and son escorted her down the aisle. The intimate museum was perfect for this ceremony. A close friend officiated the wedding. The highlight of the ceremony was when the couple lovingly read a book to the bride’s son.

Guests then were transported to The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Old Town which was all decked out with many library-inspired elements including books with library check out cards as place cards, a typewriter and many centerpieces created out of book pages and books! Each table was named after one of the couple’s favorite movies.

As guests enjoyed the signature drink, a skinny margarita, movies played silently including Dumb and Dumber. The couple snuck away for some private photos at Christophers on Congress, their favorite wine bar in Old Town. They joined their guests and enjoyed the delicious cuisine of the Cosmopolitan and the music of Battleson Entertainment.

The personalized decor was such a hit with the guests that many of them took home the table names! This easygoing couple didn’t mind. Some of their closest friends gave very funny speeches too. A moment in the night that made the bride teary was seeing her parents slow dance and gaze into each other’s eyes. The children loved dancing it up on the dance floor. The late night comfort food snacks were delicious and very much appreciated by the guests. Casey and Jeff…thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day and we wish you the very best!
