When I first spoke with Sarah last winter, I was so excited to connect with such a wonderful bride. Sarah’s then fiancé – now husband, Scott is in the service and she works full time, so I understood the importance of being by her side through the entire process. I immediately got started on the planning! Besides her great taste, Sarah was fun! Our meetings were always a joy to go to. We started by creating a pinterest board that represented her and Scott. I am not going to lie – it was exactly what I would have designed for mysef! Her color palette included blush, ivory and greens. We then booked the absolute best vendors and created an original and fun styled day.
Sarah arrived at The Prado on the big day looking flawless thanks to Brides Amore who provided beauty services. A very special moment set the stage for the day; the first look Sarah shared with her father. This was very important to her because her father raised her on his own and she has a very close bond with him and her brother. This moment had everyone teary eyed and we loved the sweetness of this!
Vintage Strings welcomed guests to the ceremony with the sound of their lovely String Quartet. Officiated by the couple’s close friend, Chaplain Joseph Duwors, their vows were exceptionally special. The couple had a unity cross and it was a unique way to honor their faith, as well as symbolize the joining of two families. The unity cross begins as two pieces, and when the bride and groom combine these pieces it signifies two becoming one.
After the ceremony, the couple spent a few minutes alone, then joined their family and bridal party for photos around Balboa Park. True Photography captured these photos and more, and we thank them for being present for every moment of this breathtaking wedding day.
After cocktail hour, guests were ushered into the ballroom, which looked grand thanks to Sweet Ribbons Events. The room was with complemented with breathtaking high and low floral centerpieces and candles strewn throughout, which added so much beauty to the already immaculate ballroom.
When it came time for the grand entrance, Sarah’s maid of honor and best friend helped bustle her dress and the bridal party lined up waiting to be announced to their guests. Keeping Scott’s service to our country in mind, Sarah thought it would be a fantastic idea to provide all of their guests with hand-held American flags to wave during the grand entrance. This was a surprise to her groom, his face lit up when he saw the thoughtful gesture.
Now that everyone was in one spot, it was time to start the celebration! Another beautiful moment happened when the bride danced with her brother. Family is very important to Sarah and Scott, and each special dance was accompanied by many tears of joy. Battleson Entertainment started the open dancing with a group photo which everyone thought was fabulous – in Sarah’s words, “let’s take a group selfie!”
Pixster provided the fun photobooth that everyone had a great time with, especially the couple!
Flour Power created the cakes for the wedding including the groom’s cake with the hand-crafted cake topper Sarah special ordered as another surprise for her new husband. Scott LOVED it!
A delicious late night snack of sliders was provided for all the wedding guests and this was greatly appreciated after so much of that calorie-burning dancing everyone did.
Sarah and Scott, AYS is so happy to have been by your side through the planning process and we are so glad you were happy with the outcome of your gorgeous day. We wish you both the best in your coming years… Congratulations!
