Modern Downtown Wedding with Middle Eastern Touches

The day began at the beautiful All Souls’ Episcopal Church in Point Loma. The massive stained glass windows were the perfect backdrop to August and Ramzi’s elegant ceremony. August was escorted down the aisle by her sister, a touching addition to the ceremony as they are both very close.

After the exchange of vows and their pronouncement as Mr. and Mrs., our elated bride and groom made their way to the reception space, the Broadway Pier, for bridal party photos. Located on the waters of the San Diego Harbor, this location was perfect for the modern taste of our bride and groom.

August and Ramzi chose a blend of colors for their wedding day with bold plum and mango tones at the forefront. Barliz Flowers designed the personal florals for the wedding party, while Zenful Living provided the beautiful succulent centerpieces that guests were able to take home as favors at the end of the night.

August’s vision of a Moroccan inspired lounge area came to life thanks to rentals from Lauren Sharon Vintage Rentals & Design, as well as a few elements including the hookah and gorgeous pillows from India provided by the bride, herself! Guests utilized this area to enjoy drinks and mingle during cocktail hour and throughout the night.

When it came time for their grand entrance, August and Ramzi surprised their guests by following behind a Zaffe, from Dashing Events. A Zaffe is a wedding march used in Arab cultures. Our bride and groom were lead by men in magnificent cultural garb, carrying drums and swords. The Zaffe lead the bride and groom, bridal party and guests onto the floor to participate in a celebratory dance before all guests were seated to have dinner.

Abbey Catering provided the delicious dinner for August and Ramzi’s guests. Guests enjoyed tasty kabobs paired with potatoes and rice. It was great to see cultural elements not only included in the decor, but in the food as well!

After their dinner, guests had a fantastic time on the dance floor thanks to the DJs from Premier Entertainment. While everyone enjoyed the music, the bride and groom had one more surprise in store for their guests and snuck away to reveal it. Guests were asked to head outside to enjoy dessert! In lieu of a wedding cake, August and Ramzi decided to treat their family and friends to some delicious ice cream. As guests gathered outside, the newlyweds pulled up in the Sweet Treats ice cream truck, and everyone loved their clever idea.

From start to finish, every detail of this wedding was thought through perfectly. A big thank you is owed to Anika London Photography and Blue Tiger Films for capturing every moment of this amazing day. This couple’s strong faith and honor for their cultures was evident in every element of the day and we are so glad to have been a part of it. Congratulations August and Ramzi, may you both have happiness and success in your marriage!
