We met with Will and Jess early in the planning process and fell in love with their style, personalities and admiration for one another. We got to know them and immediately started the search for the perfect venue! Will and Jess ended up choosing the one and only La Valencia Hotel because of its charm, character and stunning location. We adore hosting weddings at this iconic venue and highly recommend it to future newlyweds. We designed a vintage travel theme to incorporate into each part of the wedding – from invitations by Dolldine Designs to vintage rentals by Petals & Lace Design, and every aspect of the wedding day experience.
When it came time for the big day, we were thrilled to see that the weather was perfect and we couldn’t have wished for better! Jessica and her lovely bridesmaids began by getting ready with their Blush & Adore hair stylist, Brenna, as well as their makeup artist from Flirt, Ann. Jess looked flawless, as well as her ladies who were ready as ever to watch their friends say their vows.
Once ready, Jess stepped out of her room to surprise her soon-to-be husband with a first look. Jen and Shane of Acqua Photo did a fantastic job at photographing this happy moment, along with the rest of the joyful moments throughout the day.
La Valencia was kind enough to provide white parasols for guests during the ceremony. It was quite a warm day, and these helped to keep the sun off of their faces. It also added an unplanned yet charming touch to the vintage travel theme.
Craig Does Weddings was the officiant. We love working with Craig. His sense of humor puts a fun spin on the ceremony, while his professionalism is unmatched. TessFresh Flowers provided all of the florals as well as the gorgeous ceremony arch. Jessica was escorted down the aisle by her father as Israel Maldonado did a wonderful job, as always, playing his acoustic guitar.
Cocktail hour was held on the balcony of the reception space, known as the Verandah Ballroom. The view of the sunset from this spot was breathtaking. Jessica and Will quickly snuck off with the photographers and videographer, Norma of Blue Trinity Films, to capture images on the famous La Jolla cliffs before the sun disappeared.
After cocktail hour, guests moved inside to grab their escort cards, designed to resemble boarding passes. The escort card and gift card tables were decorated with items to further tie into their vintage travel theme. The vintage camera, books, globe and luggage looked great!
Jessica and Will followed their bridal party for their grand entrance into their reception. The newlyweds tangoed for their first dance and it was amazing! They looked like professionals, it was so fun to watch. Bruce of Battleson Entertainment played the reception music that everyone loved dancing to.
The simplistic yet beautiful cake created by Flour Power Cakery sat atop a piece of vintage luggage that added another element to their wonderful theme. Each of the guest tables were adorned with beautiful linens from Sweet Ribbon Events. Jessica and Will also decided to give their guests adorable vintage plane bottle openers and candies from China, representing Jessica’s heritage, as thanks for sharing their special day with them.
By the end of the evening, everyone agreed that this was one of the most beautiful weddings they have experienced, including us! We will truly miss planning your day, and wish you two happiness in your life together!
