Blend of Cultures at Scripps Seaside Forum

Laura and Patrick liked the concept of a simple yet elegant beach wedding. Their vision came to life on the shores of the Pacific Ocean at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, California. The bride and groom stumbled upon this gorgeous venue during a walk through La Jolla, and they both felt that this was the place they wanted to say I Do.

Laura is from Mexico and Patrick is from France, so it was important to them that their cultures be represented on their wedding day. Padre Martin Cazares came from Mexico City to perform their Catholic ceremony with traditional candle lighting, coin and cord ceremonies.

After the ceremony, guests grabbed champagne and briefly mingled with the bride and groom who valued the importance of thanking all of their guests for attending their special day. Guests were then able to enjoy cocktail hour with drinks provided by Giuseppe Bar Service. After thanking their guests, Laura and Patrick snuck off to take photos for the first time as Mr. and Mrs.

We loved their idea for a seating chart. A map of the world was displayed, showing locations that the well-traveled couple have visited together. Each table name corresponded with a location on the map.

Before taking their seats, guests were asked to wait outside for a somewhat non-traditional grand entrance. Laura and Patrick wanted everyone to be involved in their grand entrance, and had the idea of walking outside, rather than into the reception space to take a group photo with all of their family and friends! Their guests had traveled from all over the world for this day, so it was special to the bride and groom to have a photo with everyone included!

Guests then began to take their seats for the reception at the beautiful white tables. Rentals were provided by Platinum Event Rentals. The little ones loved that Laura and Patrick kept them in mind when designing their reception. The kid’s table included fun activities like coloring books and bubbles to keep them entertained!

Keeping their cultures in mind, the bride and groom made heartfelt speeches in each other’s native languages. The groom attempted a speech in Spanish, thanking Laura’s family, while the bride did the same in French thanking Patrick’s family.

Guests enjoyed a delicious sit-down dinner prepared by Continental Catering. After dinner, everyone got up to dance thanks to the amazing band from Mexico, Grupo Ele. The band kept everyone dancing throughout the night and handed out fun props and party favors like wigs, hats and balloons! All of the guests said they had a great time on the dance floor and in the photo booth provided by Miskipops Photobooth!

After a delicious wedding cake dessert, provided by Twiggs Bakery, friends and family began to bring the night to an end. Wedding favors were mini crocheted cactus’ and shot glasses! We would like to credit and extend a big thank you to Fabio Luna Photography for his skill in creating such fantastic photos of the day.  We loved being a part of this fun and beautiful wedding. Thank you Laura and Patrick for including us on your special day!
