Inspiration for Popping the Question

Thinking of popping the question? Everyone wants to keep it unique. Remember: originality is key, and just the thought that you want to spend the rest of your life with them is enough to make your significant other swoon. Here are a few ideas to spark your imagination.

All photos from a surprise beach proposal were shot and provided by Amy Millard Photography.

A proposal is a memory that will last a lifetime. Photographs of the moment the big “YES” is said will become precious keepsakes. Hire a photographer, and think of a good excuse. Birthday? Anniversary? or just because. Take a couple of shots and in the middle of the shoot drop down to one knee. With a camera ready, there’s no way to miss that priceless reaction.

Sport Fanatic

In love with baseball? Many baseball teams and stadiums love helping out with proposals. But rather than a projection on the jumbotron, add an extra element to make it special. Use an x-acto knife to cut a baseball in half and carefully place the ring inside. Arrange to have a ball thrown from the field to your seats. When you catch it, make the switch to the one with the ring inside and hand it to your love!

Sneaky Surprise

You and your significant other tell each other everything. So how are you ever going to be able to keep this huge secret from them? You’ve already purchased the ring. Now, pull off a tiny fake out by asking for your partner’s ring size in obvious ways (bringing home a ring chart is one). When they accuse you of ruining the surprise simply follow up with, “Okay, try this one on instead.”

Adrenaline Junkie

If you both have a favorite amusement park, take them there. Make giant “Will You Marry Me” signs and ask for family or friends to hold them below your favorite ride. Make sure they see before the photo is snapped! This way you can catch their priceless reaction and see the photo at the end of the ride.

Flying High

Ever taken your future spouse on a helicopter ride? Or maybe a hot air balloon? If it’s something they have always wanted to do, think about implementing a proposal into a fun trip like this. Large rocks, trees, or sand are great materials to use in order to spell out “Will You Marry Me”? Keep it original by doing this in a city they’ve always wanted to visit, and invite family along to make it even more of a meaningful surprise!
