Coastal Organic Wedding on the Pacific Coast

When I met with Mark and Taylor, they reminded me of how excited I was when I moved to San Diego. Their love for the city and enthusiasm for enjoying everything San Diego offered was so refreshing. They truly wanted to make the experience for their guests one of a kind!


Their coastal organic style captured me instantly. From their love of succulents, gardening and choosing a caterer who carried fresh, local and organic ingredients, I loved everything that was at the core of the planning. 


Taylor and Mark began their wedding day preparations separately. Mark with the gentlemen at the couple’s home in Rolando, while Taylor was having a lovely time with her ladies in La Jolla.


Big Woody Transportation picked up the gentlemen and brought them to the ladies in La Jolla. Mark and Taylor enjoyed a first look together which was so touching.


Holly Ireland Photography joined the festivities to capture all these special moments. We love working with Holly who is sweet, professional and has amazing talent. Her calm demeanor always brings out the best in everyone around her!


After the first look, the couple and the bridal party ventured to the beach for group photos. They then traveled in their vintage school bus to the Martin Johnson House and joined the family for more photo time. 



The elegant market lighting and rentals were provided by Platinum Rentals while the centerpieces, decor and succulents were from the couple! The pieces looked exquisite on the tables.



Urban Succulents designed all the personal floral, eucalyptus leaves, cake succulents and arch decor.



The ceremony was officiated by the couple’s good friend, Sarah Lee. We love when couples choose for someone close to them to officiate their wedding as it adds a personalized touch.


The couple’s dogs were part of their ceremony and did a wonderful job.


The cutest ring bearer escorted two flower girls in as well!


Guests were able to find their seats by picking up a customized coaster with their name and table number.


The catering team from Terra Catering  catered the delicious organic cuisine, desserts as well as providing bar services.


The music by Nick Weiss was impressive. Nick is not only a DJ and emcee, but he plays the guitar and sings wonderfully. It was especially enjoyable to have him play during cocktail hour. We loved working with him as well – he was not only talented but extremely professional and stayed right on schedule with everything throughout the event.


Inside the house was a beautiful set up of desserts with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.


Chocolate flour-less cake bites, fruit tarts, and tiramisu were just a few of the scrumptious sweets brought by Terra! The couple had food stations that included salad, beef, fish, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was a hit! 


The couple had a wonderful sunset toast with their guests and nothing could have been any more perfect.


Taylor and her father surprised their guests with a fun choreographed father daughter dance.


Throughout the night, Nick played a variety of music and the dance floor was packed. Mark and Taylor danced the night away and enjoyed the wedding of their dreams!


I will miss designing with this couple and wish them all the best in their future together as Mr. and Mrs. Berninger! Thank you Mark and Taylor for entrusting me with the planning and design of such a wonderful milestone.
