Andy and Jil were married at the luxurious Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, California. The couple, who are from New York, contemplated many different areas for their wedding celebration. They had stayed at the Grand fairly often and hadn’t considered it as a potential venue until one weekend while staying at the hotel they realized it would be perfect for their wedding!
Guests traveled from many different states and countries to celebrate Andy and Jil’s marriage! It was an intimate affair of 50 people – only their closest friends and family. They welcomed their guests to the Grand with gift bags that included personalized bottles of wines, treats from Jil’s Magic Mix company, golfing hats, and more little goodies.
Lauren and Vanessa of Lava Weddings provided the beauty services for the ladies, who looked absolutely stunning!
They truly made Jil look as though she was just glowing with her natural beauty. The couple’s adorable dogs hung out during beauty time wondering what was going on as they put on their bow ties!
The ceremony took place on the beautiful Reflection Lawn at the Grand. A long reflecting pool led the way to the aisle which ended at the very intricate gazebo that served as the chuppah.
The bride and groom’s pomeranian, Foxxy, and chihuahua, Hendrix, looked great as ring bearers led by the flower girl – the groom’s daughter Danielle. It was a traditional Jewish ceremony officiated by Rabbi Ian – who has a great sense of humor and made the ceremony a joyful experience!
Cocktail hour took place at the Aria Pavilion – a beautiful outdoor space where guests could mingle and look out onto the Aria lawn where natural style farm tables awaited them for dinner. Guests had fun with Jil and Andy’s polaroid station!
The polaroids were placed in a guest book that had fun fill-in-the-blanks for guests including questions like, “How do you know Jil and Andy” and, “What excites you most about our wedding”. Boyd Harris was the official photographer for the wedding and captured the event perfectly!
Dinner took place on the Aria lawn, beautiful farm tables were put together as one long table for everyone to sit together.
During dinner, a plethora of candles illuminated the farm tables and market lights strung overhead created a romantic and cozy atmosphere. Wedding guests enjoyed a four-course meal and each other’s company. Between each course a toast was given. Mother of the Bride surprised the couple with a beautiful song during dinner. Her serenade to the couple was touching and such a wonderful surprise!
After dinner guests made their way to the Burgundy room – another intimate and cozy space where guests enjoyed drinks and dancing with music by Vario Weddings. The space had the feel of a wine cellar with wine bottles lining the walls, as well as, a brick and wood inspired style and dimmed lighting. The couple rented furniture from Hire Elegance that included tufted velvet chairs, marble and glass coffee tables, and sofa seating. It was gorgeous!
People drank, danced, and chatted the night away. The couple had a mother/son, father/daughter, and first dance which were all so special. They cut their chocolate peanut butter crunch cake from the Grand for guests to enjoy and also provided late night snacks – sweet potato and Parmesan Truffle Frieda and skewers of chicken, beef, and lamb.
The whole evening had a sophisticated, elegant, and romantic vibe. The Grand Del Mar provided an absolutely gorgeous venue made even more beautiful by the floral pieces and candlelight designed by Kathy Wright’s team. Guests truly enjoyed each other’s company – everyone seemed to have so much fun and as elegant as it was, it was a comfortable, laid-back night.
The party lasted until 1 am, after which guests retreated to their rooms at the Grand. They would enjoy a brunch together the next morning still reeling from the magic of the night before.
