Ray & Rea
Ray and Rea’s wedding was a special day which included so much of their Filipino culture. The Ninang, female sponsors wore beautiful maroon dresses and the all the Ninong, male sponsors wore traditional Filipino embroidered shirts, including the groom and his groomsmen.
The gorgeous floral for the church, the bridal party and sponsors was designed by the talented team at TessFresh Flowers.
Their wedding began in the morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in National City, California where they included primary sponsors and secondary sponsors in their ceremony. Children held important roles including a prayer book bearer, ring bearer, flower girl, coin bearer and a Junior bridesmaid. The couple included traditional catholic elements such as, the veil being placed over the couple to signify the two becoming one, the lighting of the unity candle to represent two families joining together and the presenting of the floral bouquet to Mother Mary.
After the ceremony, the couple then headed to the golf course on Coronado Island where they drove around on a golf cart for photos near the water with the beautiful Coronado bridge in the background. Golfers crashed their photo shoot which was a lot of fun for these two lovebirds!
As guests arrived and entered the Coronado Bayside Grill, the couple had a photobooth station they had made themselves with a great background where guests took a Polaroid photo to replace their name cards.
Each table setting included a fan from the Philippines, chocolates and personalized playing cards. Katie, the bride’s close friend and assistant, decorated the room creating the beautiful place settings, backdrops and centerpieces. The groom’s cousin, a cartoonist, provided custom cartoon images of the bride and groom for the kids to color. The guests were also able to leave suggestions to the couple for date nights, travel ideas and marriage advice.
Cocktail Hour & the Reception
Cocktail hour was held outside overlooking the golf course and boats along the Coronado Bay. The couple’s dinner reception at Coronado Bayside Grill included deep fried lumpia appetizers and a beautiful buffet with two large pigs. The beautiful and delicious two tier cake from Eccentric International Chefs had a character cake topper of the couple that was created by one of their friends!
The reception included many of the traditional wedding activities, but the most important to them was the honeymoon dance because they had a chance to have some special time with their guests. The reception music was provided by 3 Wise Men DJs and the emceeing was done by the couple’s sponsor, Jean Pilario-Munson. Family means everything to Ray and Rea and they had a memorable time with those closest to them. We thank them for allowing us to come alongside and coordinate such a special day!
