Lisa and Matt were such an adorable couple and I was so happy when they chose At Your Side Planning to design and plan their wedding! This beautiful couple loves traveling, family, God, and life. So much about them really resonated with me. It was an honor to come on board for their wedding design and planning.
Planning with this couple was always a joy. We met at the venue, The Grand Manchester Hyatt, where we created a vision board for their wedding that transformed into a gorgeous reality. The color palette included blush, pinks, ivories, and greens with a navy blue accent. The blue and silver worn by the groomsmen and bridesmaids made the bridal party really shine while complementing the champagne and ivory inside the venue.
The ladies got dolled up at The Grand Manchester Hyatt with a spectacular view of downtown, Coronado and the bay. Beauty services were provided by Victoria Garcia, who gave each of these ladies fantastic hairdos, as well as Kristine Davis and Makeup by Kandice who left everyone simply glowing.
The bouquets were made using pink and white florals with accents of blue thistles and succulents from Tessfresh that were incredibly gorgeous! The bridesmaids wore cool toned, blue-gray and silver dresses in a variety of styles which looked amazing side-by-side. Lisa had her own touch of “something blue” beneath her elegant bridal gown, a jeweled, lace garter!
The group all traveled together in a limo bus by Top Dog Limo to the ceremony. The groom was blindfolded so he could not see his bride while his groomsmen held his hand to guide the way! While Lisa was planning her wedding, she was also preparing for a bodybuilding competition and she looked incredible! Matthew was absolutely blown away when he saw her for the first time.
Photography by Jen & Shane and Videography by Shutter & Sound captured all the moments of this special day.
The ceremony was held at the couple’s church, Corpus Christi Parish in Bonita, California. The already beautiful church was complimented with touches of fresh floral along the aisles, as well as, framed photos of the couple’s grandparents hung on the pew ends as a personal touch. The church coordinator, Pat was lovely to work with. The family and sponsors all had special roles in this momentous event. The large bridal party and children did a fabulous job; every head in the chapel was turned to not miss the adorable coin bearers and flower girls prance down the aisle!
Cocktail Hour & Photos
After the ceremony, the couple and their bridal party enjoyed photos in the lush outdoor area of the church. This beautiful lawn was the perfect spot for some bright and cheery shots of the wedding couple and their loved ones. When the bridal party arrived late to the hotel after the ceremony, you could see from their faces that they had been busy celebrating. They later explained that they arrived late because they had to pull the party bus over to set up a pole- then they danced the rest of their way to the reception!
The guests had a delicious plated dinner and were able to select from lamb, sea bass, chicken or vegetarian options. After their dinner, guests enjoyed a classic 3 tiered, white wedding cake adorned with a dazzling “M” topper.
I think it is so precious that prior to their grand entrance, the bride and groom opted to have a private dinner upstairs where they could take a little time alone as husband and wife for the first time.
Once they arrived at the ballroom however, the bridal party was ready to party! This energetic group had a few surprises for the bride and groom. They entered the reception with some incredible dance moves and lined up to create a tunnel for the newlyweds to run through! Bruce of Battleson Entertainment was the emcee and DJ for the night and kept everyone in great spirits, per usual! He also dressed up the venue with warm uplighting which helped create a very romantic ambiance for the evening.
Concept Event Rentals adorned the ballroom with an extravagant sweetheart table setup, chiavari chairs, and beautiful linens. Centerpieces by Tessfresh stood tall on elegant golden stands with florals and glowing candlelight.
The sweetheart table, covered in sequined linen looked amazing raised up on a stage with white draping and a customized “the Marianos” sign hung in the background.
Agate slices in various tones matching the wedding colors served as place cards which were a very unique and refined touch. They also secretly told servers which guests received different meals which was a thoughtful touch! The bride had crafted vases (out of old yogurt jars) with live succulents which were favors for the guests to take home- this was a huge hit and a something truly keepsake for their friends and family.
This crowd definitely knew how to have a good time and it was apparent the whole night how much fun everyone was having! The bride and groom each shared touching moments with their parents during the traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances. Other guests didn’t miss out on their opportunity to dance with the bride and groom though. When it was time for the money dance guests made their way to the dance floor to bestow Lisa with a money crown and sash they had crafted! It was obvious just how much love was present for Matt and Lisa!
Lisa and Matt were an amazingly sweet, grateful, and genuine couple. It was such a pleasure working with them! It was lovely to see how excited everyone was for them and hear the toasts from 2 best men, the maid of honor, and father of the groom. It was an honor to design and plan their wedding day!
