Old Poway Park Anniversary Celebration

The Couple’s History

Celebrating their two year wedding anniversary meant something more to Anna and Ritvik, who were married with only their immediate families present. After that, the couple had a small Hindu wedding celebration where only Ritvik’s family were present. Old Poway Park in San Diego county was the perfect place for this long-awaited celebration, as it held a long time significance to Anna and her family, being where they grew up taking dance lessons, picnicking, and playing in the creek.

Cocktails & Games

What’s better than an open bar to greet guests? Not much…especially when the menu includes a rosemary gimlet, salty dog, whiskey sour, and mocktails. Guests were able to mingle in the gazebo, which held a polaroid station for guests to snap a picture to place in the guestbook. They also mingled on the lawn, playing ladder toss and cornhole.

Thoughtful Decor

Every detail of the couple’s anniversary celebration had a beautiful personal touch. Each table was named after a flower, which Anna designed; from poppy, to rhododendron, to dahlia. Each table was designed with a rose colored linen with sage napkins, which paired nicely with the organically styled succulent centerpieces.

Even more special, each guest’s seat had a lavender sachet favor, which was handpicked lavender and sewed by the bride herself using fabric from their Indian Hindu wedding. Soon the plating was full of fresh and tasty tacos from Salud catering.

Entertainment & Homemade Goodies

With the sunset came beautifully lit market lights overhead, setting the mood for toasts of gratitude and celebration. After a few speeches, the couple had put together a trivia game, where their friends were the host and panelists, taking turns answering questions related to Anna and Ritvik. Not only did the crowd get a good laugh, but it was a unique way for the audience to learn a lot about their relationship.

Inside Templar’s Hall was the dancing portion of the night, where all guests enjoyed hitting the dance floor thanks to DJ Mauro. On the side, were tempting desserts of chocolate chip cookies and lemon cupcakes. The cookies were Anna’s mom’s recipe; having been perfected for years, they were delectable, and the cupcakes were baked by a close friend whose baked goods have always been in Anna’s life.

It truly was a pleasure to assist this sweet couple in celebrating their marriage. It was lovely to see so many personal touches that represented them, and the freedom of not having a typical wedding agenda allowed them to enjoy their company.
